Career Video Library
Developed and distributed by the New Jersey Center for Occupational Employment Information (COEI) under a grant from the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration, the career videos are designed to provide a brief, visual introduction to careers and the world of work and to supplement more detailed sources of career information. All of the videos were recorded in actual places of work with real employees. Each career video averages 90 seconds in length and typically covers the rewards and compromises of the specific career, as well as, skill requirements and duties.
The library currently contains 16 clips for the career clusters listed in the Carl D. Perkins Act of 2006, seven (7) videos centered on career characteristics, five (5) industry videos, 23 clips on SCANS attributes, 547 career videos and royalty-free still photographs of all profiled careers. The videos are compressed into MPEG-1 open-captioned and uncaptioned formats, and QuickTime©.
You may download the videos in the format of your choice.
Many of the videos are now available in Spanish.
Please note: If you encounter difficulties running the videos through Google Chrome, please use the Internet Explorer browser to access our website.
The videos are public domain software and are released without usage restrictions. Public and private vendors are free to use the clips in whatever manner they see fit to promote career decision making. The following narrative should be used if a state or agency wishes to include an attribution statement:
“The career videos were developed and distributed by the Center for Occupational Employment Information (COEI) under a grant from America's Labor Market Information System (ALMIS), a program of the U.S. Department of Labor's Employment and Training Administration (ETA). They are designed to provide a brief, visual introduction to the world of work for a career.”
