| Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) and Federal Additional Compensation (FAC) Programs Extended |
On December 22, 2009, federal legislation was passed that extended the end dates for the Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) program. The program, set to expire on December 31, 2009, was extended until February 28, 2010.
Claimants who exhaust their regular UI benefits must have a EUC Tier I claim filed February 21, 2010, or earlier, in order to be eligible for EUC benefits. Claimants who exhaust EUC Tier I, II or III by week ending February 27, 2010, are eligible to collect the next Tier of EUC benefits.
All EUC benefits are scheduled to end with week ending July 31, 2010.
The federal legislation also extended the Federal Additional Compensation (FAC) program from December 31, 2009 through February 28, 2010. Claimants who file for regular UI benefits on February 28, 2010 or later, are not eligible for the additional $25 weekly stimulus payment through the FAC program. For eligible claimants, FAC benefits are payable through September 4, 2010.
The rules and requirements of the EUC and FAC programs have not changed. Only the end dates were extended. |
