Available for Work
Being available for work means that you must be ready to start work immediately. You must have transportation (car, bus, train, etc.) which would enable you to begin a job at once. Also, you must have no personal reasons which prevent you from working.
Example: Mary Jones is collecting unemployment benefits. Her mother becomes ill and Mary must provide full-time care for her for two weeks. While she is providing care for her mother, she is unavailable for work and ineligible for benefits. When her mother recovers, and Mary is available for work, she may again be eligible to receive unemployment benefits.
