Independent Medical Examination – State Plan Employer
The claimant may be required to submit to a physical examination by a state-appointed physician in order to medically substantiate his/her claim. In addition, if you have any doubt about the validity of your employee's disability or have reason to question the duration of the disability, you may request that an independent medical examination be scheduled by our agency.
This is a routine procedure and there will be no charge to either you or the claimant. The findings of the examination will be used to determine whether the employee will be paid additional benefits. A copy of the determination will be mailed to you.
Failure to submit to an examination is cause for the denial of benefits.
