DTDI Debit Card Information

Beginning with temporary disability or family leave insurance claims determined eligible on April 18, 2011 the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development with the Bank of America will provide you with a debit card that is valid for four (4) years from the date of issue. Benefit payments for which you are eligible will be deposited to your debit card account. If the Department previously issued a debit card to you, your benefit payment will be deposited to the existing debit card account.

The Bank of America will automatically mail your debit card and information pertaining to your account within ten (10) days from the date of your eligible decision. If you do not receive your debit card package, you must contact Bank of America customer service toll-free at 1-866-213-4074.

Your debit card can be used everywhere VISA debit cards are accepted, in stores, on line and for mail and phone purchases. There are no bank fees when you use your card for purchases from a merchant. You can get cash from thousands of ATM’s nationwide and from tellers at any bank or credit union that accepts Visa.

Your card must be activated before you can use it. Funds are limited to the amount of your benefit payments and the amount for every purchase or withdrawal is deducted.

You must contact the Bank of America to:

  • Activate your card.
  • Check your balance.
  • Locate the nearest Bank of America ATM.
  • Transfer funds from your debit card to your savings or checking account.
  • Report a lost or stolen debit card.
  • Change or reset your PIN.
  • Obtain further information regarding your debit card account, including any transaction fees that may apply.

Visit Bank of America’s web site at www.bankofamerica.com/cashpay or contact their customer service area by telephone toll free at l-866-213-4074.

More information can be found on our website at Debit Card FAQ’s.

REMEMBER: Do not discard your debit card after your claim has ended. It is valid for four years. Any unemployment, temporary disability or family leave insurance benefits you are entitled to during the 4 year period will be deposited to this card.

To get information about your claim and/or payment status, use our Web Inquiry Application. Allow 2 business days from the payment date for the benefits to be deposited in your debit card account.

Special Note for individuals who apply for Disability During Unemployment (DDU) or Family Leave During Unemployment (FLDU) benefits immediately after collecting unemployment insurance benefits. If you opted to have your unemployment insurance benefits deposited directly to your saving or checking account this option will remain in effect and your DDU/FLDU benefit payment will continue to be directly deposited to that account.
