“Today, I am pleased to join you in celebrating Silver Line’s stellar safety record for 2011 and to congratulate you on receiving the Governor’s Safety and Health Recognition Award,” said Commissioner Wirths, as he displayed the award in a ceremony organized by the company at its headquarters.
The program is designed to recognize public and private employers with outstanding performance in preventing workplace injuries and illnesses. A total of 410 companies, facilities and government agencies are receiving various recognitions and group awards through the program this year for safety records achieved during 2011.
Silver Line was initially presented with its award on May 2 during one of five regional dinners held annually to issue plaques to honored employers throughout the state. Today, hundreds of Silver Line workers, wearing T-shirts commemorating the safety award, gathered on the main manufacturing floor to listen to Commissioner Wirths and company officials.
New Jersey maintains some of the nation’s safest workplaces and has consistently had a lower on-the-job injury rate than the national average.
