The event was held at the Conference Center at Mercer County Community College, where Commissioner Wirths congratulated the Association on its 30 years of operation. He also announced that Joseph Latoof, an association member and LWD employee, has been appointed the new Chief Financial Officer at the LWD.
Commissioner Wirths touted the successful efforts of Governor Chris Christie’s administration to bolster New Jersey’s economy and increase government accountability in the use of public funds, including a new LWD program that stopped $56 million in Unemployment Insurance fraud in just five months.
The Commissioner also noted the $190 million payroll tax cut involving the Temporary Disability Fund that will directly benefit working New Jersey families beginning in 2012. The highlight of Commissioner Wirth’s address was the Jobs4Jersey.com website, which links job-seekers to more than 475,000 job postings, 150,000 in New Jersey and another 325,000 within a 50 mile radius.
Job-seekers also may find training information, details on how to start a business and links to the 34 One-Stop Career Centers in New Jersey. Most importantly, they will find the OnRamp job-finder service that helps them to upload or create a resume for employers to find on the website, which links to 2,500 other employment websites.
