Under the existing law, New Jersey claimants who meet all other eligibility requirements and have exhausted their regular unemployment insurance (UI) benefits with the week ending May 29, 2010 or later, or who have exhausted one of the EUC extensions with the week ending June 5, 2010 or later, may potentially qualify for extended benefits (EB). 

New Jersey Unemployment Insurance claimants falling into these categories have been sent instructions to begin certifying for EB benefits as of today.  Claimants can certify for weeks of EB benefits through the Internet at www.njuifile.net, or over the telephone.

In addition, any initial claim filed after  May 23, 2010 are not eligible for Federal Additional Compensation (FAC), the program which provided additional $25 weekly federal stimulus benefits to unemployment insurance claimants.

Commissioner Harold J. Wirths also encourages claimants to continue with their work search and emphasized: “Our One-Stop Career Center staff will continue to provide assistance in finding employment and in identifying programs available to assist workers and their families in these difficult times. Our redesigned website, www.nj.gov/labor offers a wealth of information including One-Stop Center locations and the www.njhelps.org site lists various programs to assist families.” Wirths said.
