Commissioner Wirths praised the firefighters for their courage and commitment to protecting the lives and property of people in communities across the state.
Wirths told the firefighters, “We recognize the difficult and dangerous work you do and we recognize that our role at the Department is helping keep you as safe as possible in your dangerous occupation.”
The Commissioner also spoke of his strong commitment to protecting workers in this hazardous occupation by enforcing the state’s Public Employee Occupational Safety and Health standards and maintaining the highest level of protection for workers.
PFANJ represents more than sixty local unions and more than 3,500 professional firefighters.
