“One of the best things that we can do for our economy is to make sure our workers’ skills match the needs of the business community,” said Commissioner Socolow. “These customized training grants allow New Jersey employers to invest in their own workers and these investments in our workforce will, in turn, bolster New Jersey’s position as a leader in the modern economy.”
Customized training grants like these offer occupational-specific training for workers in key industry sectors. The New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development focuses on training today’s workers for the skills that will be in demand tomorrow.
Joining Commissioner Socolow for the ceremonial check presentation at Water-Jel Technologies facilities were: Water-Jel Technologies officials, representatives from Jewish Vocational Services (JVS), and local elected officials.
Michael K. Lorelli, Water-Jel Technologies CEO, said, “All Water-Jel employees are delighted to see New Jersey’s commitment to strengthen its’ manufacturing companies.”
Water-Jel Technologies, the first to introduce the water-based gel technology that revolutionized emergency first-aid for burns, provides emergency medical services, industrial safety professionals, and the United States Military with emergency first aid burn care products.
JVS will provide the training for Water-Jel’s staff that includes order fillers, wholesale and retail sales staff, first-line supervisors, auditing clerks, production inspectors, and production laborers.
Hanna Praport, JVS director of Business Development, said, “JVS is pleased to partner with Water-Jel Technologies and the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development. The training that Water-Jel Technologies will receive through this initiative will help its employees acquire the skills needed to succeed in the workplace and help the company prosper.”
Customized training grants are matching grants awarded to New Jersey businesses to provide training to the company’s workforce in skills specifically needed to increase productivity and marketability. The grants, awarded through the Department of Labor and Workforce Development, are funded through the Workforce Development Partnership Program.
