Career & Technical Education

Is Blue Collar the New White Collar? The Future Belongs to Career and Technical Education

The vision of career and technical education recently adopted in the State 5-year plan is to prepare students to succeed as global citizens for career opportunities of the 21st century and to support healthy economic growth in the state. Career and technical education, formerly known as vocational education, has evolved to include preparing students for a wide range of career opportunities organized around career clusters and pathways. Many of these programs result in industry certifications and/or linkages to postsecondary programs that highlight the importance of lifelong learning for students. This panel discussed a variety of programs and opportunities in the state that are linked to preparing students for business and industry needs.
