The Occupational Safety Training Unit provides occupational safety and health training for both public and private sector employers and employees.

Employers can request training by calling the Training Unit at (609) 633-2587 or sending an e-mail to Safety&health_Training@dol.state.nj.us.

Most of the training courses are based on OSHA Standards; others were developed from national consensus standards such as ANSI and NIOSH.

The training is delivered by experienced consultants who will customize courses for employers when needed. The safety and health training staff receive update training at least twice each year at the OSHA Institute in Arlington Heights, Illinois to keep abreast of changes in OSHA Standards.

All training is provided at no cost to the employer and is provided at the employer's facility.

The Mine Safety Section receives a grant from MSHA to administer Part 46 training to employees of approximately 110 mines in the State. The department has developed training materials, modules, and methods utilizing health and safety information compiled through contacts with various sources in the health and safety industries to provide Refresher, New Miner, MSHA Instructor, and haulage/contractor training.

For a description of courses currently offered by the Training Unit, please click here. A free lending library of safety and health training videos is also available. Click here for a list of available titles.

For more information, please call (609) 633-2587 or e-mail us at Safety&health_Training@dol.state.nj.us.
